  1. Windows Vista, Windows 7 - Error deleting/renaming file

Q: I'm running SolSuite and I get the error:

"Error deleting the file C:\Program Files\SolSuite\Data\..."
or
"Error renaming the file C:\Program Files\SolSuite\Data\..."

A: You have an old SolSuite installation and you upgraded your Windows installation (98, XP or previous version) to Windows Vista or Windows 7.

You get the error because Windows Vista and Windows 7 don't allow writing files in the C:\Program Files\  folder

To solve the problem, simply do the following:

  • Run SolSuite.
  • Click on "Tools" on the toolbar, then
  • choose "Options", then the "Settings" tab.
  • Click on "Store folder settings".
  • Select "SolSuite default Folder"
  • and click "OK" to confirm.

If you want to save your previous SolSuite configuration and statistics, you can move all the files from:
C:\Program Files\SolSuite\Data\*.*
to
[SolSuite default Folder]
For Windows Vista and Windows 7 the folder is:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SolSuite

Notes:

  1. Replace "<username>" with your Windows User Name, example:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Mary\Application Data
    C:\Users\Paul\Appdata\Roaming\SolSuite

  2. If you can't see the the folder:
    C:\Users\<username>\Appdata

    • open "Windows Explorer", click on Organize button,
    • click on Folders and Search Options,
    • click on View tab,
    • select "Show hidden files and folders"
    • and click OK button.
